Our history.

Joseph’s Grandfather, Harry Spencer, was a Dental Mechanic during WW2, He travelled the world making “biters for fighters” as he used to say. When he was alive, he had many stories of his time during the 2nd World War. After the war he started his own range of denture teeth, ran a dental laboratory, and used to make illegal dentures direct to the public back before the profession was established.

Josephs father, Neville Spencer, trained as a dental technician under his father Harry. He worked for many years in the industry. When the Profession of "Dental Prosthetics" first became established in the early 1980’s, Neville graduated with the first group of Dental Technicians, to become a “Clinical Dental Technician”. When he first became qualified, he moved the business up to the hills and established the “Aldgate Denture Clinic”.

Joseph remembers the days of smelling curing denture acrylic, the sound of a dental lathe in the back room at home and waiting out the back of the denture clinic in Aldgate after school until someone could take him home.

Just before Joseph started in the business in 1999 the Murray Bridge branch of the business was established, and in 2000 the business made the move to its premises at Mt Barker, to provide more space for the growing team.

Adelaide Hills dentures has always kept up to date with latest in research and development in the area of removable dental prosthetics. Neville would always try the latest materials and techniques.

Our most recent change is to transition from the old-style injection moulded denture base to milled and printed dentures. Milled dentures are state of the art and represent the latest in advancements in removable prosthetics.

Adelaide Hills Dentures combines the experience from many years, and three generations, with the latest materials, equipment, and procedures to produce our Dentures.
